    PM Shehbaz, Field Marshal Asim Munir Pay Respects to Assassinated Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei

    ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of the Army Staff, Field Marshal Asim Munir, paid their respects to Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, following his assassination in a United States-Israeli military strike on February 28.

    The Pakistani leadership expressed profound sorrow over Khamenei's death and extended heartfelt condolences to the Iranian government, its leadership, and the people of Iran. They described the assassination as a significant loss for the Muslim world and acknowledged Khamenei's decades-long influence on Iran's political and religious landscape.

    Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to maintaining strong bilateral relations with Iran and emphasized the importance of regional peace, stability, and diplomatic engagement. He also stressed the need for dialogue and restraint to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.

    Field Marshal Asim Munir paid tribute to Ayatollah Khamenei's leadership and conveyed Pakistan's solidarity with the Iranian people during this difficult period. He reiterated Pakistan's support for regional security and emphasized the importance of peaceful cooperation among neighboring countries.

    The assassination of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has heightened tensions across the Middle East, triggering widespread international concern over the potential consequences for regional stability. Several countries have urged all parties to exercise restraint and pursue diplomatic solutions to avoid further conflict.

    Pakistan has consistently advocated for peace, dialogue, and respect for the sovereignty of all nations while calling on the international community to work collectively toward reducing tensions and promoting lasting stability in the region.
