Government Raises Petrol and Diesel Prices in Pakistan

The federal government has increased petrol prices by Rs6.88 per litre and high-speed diesel (HSD) by Rs5.62 per litre, effective September 17.

Following the revision, petrol now costs Rs391.22 per litre, while diesel has reached Rs421.45 per litre. According to OGRA, the increase reflects rising international oil prices and related market factors.

The latest hike adds to the financial pressure on commuters, transport operators and businesses, as higher fuel costs can increase transportation expenses and the prices of essential goods.

The government has also announced targeted fuel relief for eligible motorcycle, rickshaw and small-car owners to help ease the impact of rising fuel prices.
