PM Shehbaz Sharif Meets Barclays Delegation in London, Discusses Investment Opportunities in Pakistan.
LONDON, September 29, 2026: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif met with senior representatives of Barclays in London as part of his engagements with leading global financial institutions during his visit to the United Kingdom.
During the meeting with Mohammad Kamal Syed, Head of Private Bank and Wealth Management UK at Barclays, the Prime Minister welcomed the financial institution’s interest in Pakistan and highlighted the government’s ongoing economic reform and macroeconomic stabilisation measures.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif encouraged Barclays to explore opportunities in Pakistan’s financial sector as the government seeks to attract greater international investment and strengthen engagement with global financial institutions.
The meeting formed part of a wider series of engagements held by the Prime Minister with executives from major international financial institutions, including Barclays, J.P. Morgan, Citi, BlackRock and Rothschild & Co.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the discussions reflected growing engagement by international financial institutions with Pakistan amid the government’s economic reform programme and efforts to improve the country’s investment climate.
During the London meetings, discussions covered investment opportunities, capital markets, trade finance, investment banking and the potential expansion of international financial services in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister presented Pakistan as an emerging destination for international investment and encouraged global financial institutions to explore opportunities available across the country’s financial and investment landscape.
The engagements in London were part of the government’s broader efforts to strengthen international investor engagement, attract capital and expand Pakistan’s links with major global financial institutions.
